Development begins!



WHAT IS THIS?

This is my very first devlog! I plan on updating this every week (maybe more at first?) to keep track of how my game evolves.

WHAT GAME?

I don't have a name for it yet! But I know I want it to be a sort of roguelike heavily inspired by the likes of Enter The Gungeon, with the main gimmick being that you change character every floor but get to keep your items!

COOL, WHAT DO YOU HAVE PLANNED?

Budget isn't my strength at all, so I've decided to go ahead and build my characters around the art that I had available! I bought all of Elthen's art and plan on making a simple character myself, and if  I can't do that properly I'll commission him to do it! As far as the characters that I got planned from the art they're the following, ordered by "Name, Flavour text, Main characteristic, mini description for myself (not shown to player).

SOME CHARACTERS PLANNED

Cadet - Master chef - Regenerating armour 

Can absorb one free hit per room.

Priestess - FLAVOUR TEXT -  Conjures angelic bullets 

Angelic bullets are very powerful but are independent of gained modifiers.

Orc warrior -Ready to work -Throws axes 

 Very heavy damage. Piercing. Have to be picked back up. Test what the limit of axes held will be. (4?)

Necromancer -  Not my tempo - All enemies are slower - 

Summon ghosts from enemies and shoots skulls.

Plague doctor - What better laboratory than the blood-soaked battlefield - Immune to status effects 

Can poison the room he's in or attack with melee.

Vampire - Apparently handsome - Bloodthirsty 

He must suck the blood of an enemy every X seconds or loses hp, Can turn into a bat and be ignored by enemies.

Cyclops - Fat text - large and slow 

Throws heavy rocks with lots of knock back that can hit enemies multiple times and makes them dizzy.

Mage- There are some who call him Tim - Casts spells 

Can shoot in different ways (3?)

Goblin- Gnot a gnome - Tiny and fast, vulnerable.

Throws tiny knives, little health

Arbelist - Junior where are you  - Bleed inducing crossbow

Self explanatory

Dwarf - Cannot dig holes - Master of melee

 Self explanatory

Adventurer - No name brand - Jack of all trades, master of none 

Can shoot and melee but only the last X items have an effect.

WHAT HAVE YOU GOT SO FAR?

I've only started this project yesterday so not a whole lot, I've been learning A* to figure out how to make a half decent AI for the enemies but that's about it. Here's a gif of an enemy following and shooting at me!
